Comics I’ve Read (So Far) In 2020

Hello lovelies!

As I mentioned in my last review I really enjoy reading graphic novels/comics but I haven’t read many this year yet. But I thought I’d do a quick post about the ones I have read this year!

My first book of 2020 was also my first comic of 2020! I started out the year by re-reading The Mighty Thor Vol. 1: Thunder in Her Veins.

Back in 2019 I read the first 3 or 4 volumes of this run by Jason Aaron but with the announcement at Natalie Portman would be Thor in the next Marvel movie I decided to reread this one again. Obviously I have no idea what Portman’s Thor’s story will be but I hope it draws at least a little from this story.

I still need to read the rest of this run but I need to double check which ones I actually have so I don’t buy any duplicates (and that won’t happen till I get all of my books out of storage.)

My first graphic novel of the year was BEAR SERUM and you can read my full review here.

And then today I sat down and red Volume 1 for Red Hood and The Outlaws and Volume 7 of Tom King’s Batman.

Both of these were very good. I’m super behind on Batman but this was the last volume that I own and now I’m (im)patiently waiting for a sale at Barnes & Novel to buy the rest of the bind ups that are currently available. I knew what happened in this series back when it first came out in single issue but I still really enjoyed reading it for myself. Though knowing the ending did make it slightly less devastating. I LOVE to be devastated so that was disappointing but then again that had nothing to do with the actual story so it was still amazing.

I also really enjoyed reading a Red Hood story for the first time. Thanks to a comic nerd friend of mine I know all about Jason’s story and it was nice to know that background before reading this, but I don’t think you need to know Jason’s story before he became Red Hood to enjoy this story. It does cover the pivotal moments in his history in the form of flashbacks/memories so readers will still get the context they need.

And that’s it for comics and graphic novels for me so far this year. I do plan on reading more though. I also read all of Saga every year and I’m hoping to do that this fall assuming my books are finally out of storage.

Do you guys enjoy comics/graphic novels? What are some of your favorites? I’d love some recommendations!
