August 2020 Wrap Up

Hello lovelies! Happy Friday! How has your week been going? Unfortunately I haven’t gotten much reading done. As my blog name suggests I live in a basement and I’ve been working to get the storage spaces cleaned up so I can move the things I have in a storage unit into the basement with me. Most of the boxes in storage are my books, (43 boxes it I remember correctly) and I miss them. The goal is to be out by the end of the month but there’s still a lot to do.

And with everything I’ve been doing I haven’t posted my August 2020 Wrap Up yet, but I’m taking a few moments this morning to get it written up and posted. Also thanks to my assistant Sydney I’ve basically been up since 2:30 AM so I have more time on my hands this morning.

August wasn’t my BEST reading month, but it’s far from the worst. I read 1 arc, 1 new release and 5 comics!

For the most part I really enjoyed all the books I read this month. Only my arc was a little disappointing but it was still a good book, just not for me.

Take Me With You by Tara Altebrando

Take Me With You was my arc for this month and it was a ⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for me. This YA thriller was a great idea but it wasn’t well executed in my opinion. I’ll be posting a full review soon!

Harrow the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir

Harrow the Ninth was one of my most anticipated reads of 2020 and it did not disappoint! If you haven’t picked up this series I highly recommend it, but I also acknowledge that these books aren’t for everyone. Mostly because they are super confusing for like, 3/4 of the book. But the endings come together and wrap everything up while setting the stage for the next book. They are 1000% worth reading. I would also do anything for these characters, especially Gideon and Harrow. You can check out my full review here if you like!

For comics I read in August I finished up Tom King’s Batman run and started the next story arc in the Red Hood series headed by Scott Lobdell.

I really enjoyed the conclusion to Tom King’s run. I thought everything was wrapped up nicely and I only cried for like…the last two volumes. If you like Batman and are interested in comics I highly recommend this run. I know lots a people weren’t very happy with it because it feels long and drawn out, but I loved the story King chose to tell and I’m really happy I read these.

I also read the first volume in the new story arc for Red Hood which is currently headed up by Scott Lobdell. Basically Jason Todd aka Robin aka Red Hood is my favorite character and DC has not treated him well. Ever. And while I’m not the biggest fan of this run I will take any Jason Todd story I can get.

Also Curran Walters who plays Jason in the DC Universe show Titans is by far the best Jason Todd. I will fight anyone who says otherwise. I’m so excited to see him in season 3 especially since the show is changing up part of his origin story as Red Hood.

I also 1000% need more friends to scream about Jason with so if you like Jason or are interested in learning more about him, please message me here or over on Twitter or Instagram.

So that’s my August 2020 Wrap Up! So far September is not off to a good start and I am now VERY behind on my TBR reading schedule (not that that’s stopped me from requesting books on NetGalley…) but I’m hopeful I’ll be able to finish up my current read today after getting some work done in the basement.
